Malaysia’s borders should be opened to foreign tourists by 1 January 2022, the National Rehabilitation Council (MPN) said at today’s meeting.
According to Berita Harian, MPN Chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the measure would accelerate economic recovery, particularly in the tourism sector.
“The meeting also took note of the situation of the country’s tourism sector, which saw a relatively slow recovery due to the absence of international tourists entering the country, apart from operators of this sector who need time and resources to start their businesses,”
“Taking into account the level of achievement of the country’s excellent vaccination program, today’s meeting has decided that the country’s border be opened to international visitors by 1 January, 2022,” he said.
