Daily Covid Recoveries Continue To Outnumber New Cases Says Health DG

The 6,715 COVID-19 recovery cases reported today continue to outnumber the 5,854 daily infections.

Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah, Director General of Health, said the latest development brings the total number of COVID-19 recovery cases to 2,368,634, while the total number of new cases currently stands at 2,466,663.

“From the 5,854 daily cases reported today, 79 cases or 1.3 per cent were in categories three, four and five while 5,775 cases or 98.7 per cent were in categories one and two,” he said in response to the current status of COVID-19 cases in the country.

Additionally, 5,841 cases included local transmissions, while 13 cases involved overseas cases.

He said that 570 patients were being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU), with 293 requiring respiratory support.

Dr Noor Hisham said that two new clusters were identified today, one involving the workplace and another involving a high-risk population.

Simultaneously, the national rate of infectivity, or Rt, is 0.95, with Negeri Sembilan recording the highest Rt at 1.04, followed by Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya with 1.00.

Comprehensive data on the current infection status and spread of COVID-19 across the country will be published to the COVIDNOW website at https://covidnow.moh.gov.my daily at 12 a.m.
