“All the cases that were categorised as serious including deaths will be thoroughly investigated by the relevant health facility.

“The investigation report will then be submitted to the COVID-19 Vaccine Special Pharmacovigilance Committee (JFK) for casualty assessment or the vaccines’ link to the side effects.”

He said this in response to a verbal question from R. Sivarasa (PH-Sungai Buloh) in the Dewan Rakyat today about the result of the Health Ministry’s monitoring of COVID-19 vaccine recipients, including mortality cases and adverse reactions to the vaccines administered.

Aaron said that during that time period, the National Center for Adverse Drug Reaction Monitoring (NCARDM) of the National Pharmaceutical Regulatory Agency (NPRA) received 23,163 complaints of adverse reactions to vaccination, or 0.45 per 1,000 doses given.

He said that only 1,549 complaints were classified as severe, equating to 0.03 reports per 1,000 doses administered, and the patients were brought to hospitals for monitoring and treatment for several days.

Aaron further said that 51,842,386 doses of Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Sinovac, CanSino, and Sinopharm vaccines were provided throughout the same time period.
