AirAsia To Only Allow Fully Vaccinated Passengers To Board Their Airlines Effective Immediately

AirAsia Group Bhd’s Malaysian division announced on Wednesday that it would only permit fully vaccinated adult passengers on its flights as it prepares to restart domestic and soon international airline services.

In a statement released, AirAsia conveyed that “AirAsia Malaysia has made it mandatory for only fully vaccinated adult guests to be allowed to board its flights, effective immediately.”

They followed on by clarifying that all children under 18 years old who have not yet been fully vaccinated would only be permitted to board if accompanied by a vaccinated family member.

The Covid-19 mitigation strategy for the low-cost carrier is one of the most stringent in the business.

Last month, Qantas stated that all international flight passengers must be fully vaccinated, and Air New Zealand imposed the same rule for international flight passengers earlier this week.

AirAsia also requires passengers to check-in through its app to considerably reduce physical interaction in the airport clearance and boarding processes, according to the airline. Its staff have been fully vaccinated since August.
